Some Marvel Heroes
Working on getting my inking skills back on point. A few Marvel heroes usually make for a good workout.

Been looking to fine tune the way I’ve been handling faces. A full on pin-up size head was in order, and Wonder Woman seemed like a logical choice.
I’ve been a fan for years, but too much of a wimp to tackle drawing such highly stylised figures. I finally relented this week…and gave it a shot.
I’ve recently become of fan of Gail Simone’s work on DC’s Birds of Prey series. The book was just cancelled sadly but I thought a tribute pin-up was in order.(although I couldn’t bring myself to draw Huntress’ insanely huge mask, or the odd yellow rectangles on Black Canary’s boots)
I wanted to have some new sequential pages to show off at comicon this weekend, but couldn’t figure out what to draw. Upon examining some EXTREMELY old pages of mine from many years ago, I settled on a re-do of the old material.(I knew this would keep me interested)
From left to right, then down:
Claire Redfield
Ashley Graham
Rebecca Chambers
Ada Wong
Jill Valentine
I haven’t really been a fan of Gambit’s various costumes.(always thought they looked too sci-fi and complex for the character) Stripping him down to the bare essential “trenchcoat” seemed to be the move here.
I’m actually pretty fond of Michael Bay’s “Transformers”, but will never forgive him for the hideous walking tower of spare parts robot designs. The bright side is, I’ve been inspired to try drawing them again.
Imperative for keeping my geek street cred! The girl jedi is mine…but Lucas if free to borrow her any time he likes. At least that’s what his attorney told me in between punches.
This pic created some controversy when I posted it over a Digital Webbing. Can Spidey hold up Venom like this? Yes sez me!
Essentially fan art for Harry Potter 7’s cover. Condensed, and with the added element of the wands which are conspicuously missing from the original.
Fantastic Four number 1 cover, and Spidey’s first appearance swipes. My version of Amazing Fantasy 15’s cover features an “after Ditko” that I would later find out should have read “after Kirby/Ditko”.
My damn inker flaked out on me halfway through this pic. Unfortunately that inker happens to be ME. Wotta jerk!
Say what you will about McFarlane, his version of Spidey was one of the most influential ever. Here I was experimenting with “Todd Style” webbing. Looking at this pic today I can see his legs could have used a bit more tlc. 🙁
The thirtysomethings here no doubt remember this Shaw Brothers cheeseball Saturday afternoon classic. “Poison Clan” rocks the world!
EverQuest commission for a co-worker. I’m not familiar with the game, but was provided helpful reference pics for the requested characters.
This is a splash from a 22 page story I wrote for Fahnon starring 2 of his main characters.(some epic saga he’s concocting involving street fighters if I understand him right) I completed the script, and decided to draw a single page(in a smaller than normal format) from the final draft just for fun. This ones just over 2 years old.
I posted the full script in Digital Webbing’s writer’s section at the time and received some encouraging feedback:
Yeah I know I know. But Rob’s Cable was the only iteration of the character that actually appealed to me. The character was ruined later on of course(and artists weirdly started to give him Colossus’ left limb) but a few years ago I tried my hand at my very own costume and bionic arm.
Some blessing pin-ups that I created while still fine tuning the basic foundation of the story. At least one character currently bears no resemblance to their early incarnation here.
My perpetually work-in-progress superhero story! I have over 200 awful sequential pages laying around from the 1990’s, but they are, what’s the word…unpresentable.
Here’s a realllllllly old Spider-Man pin-up that amazingly(no pun intended) still looks pretty ok to me. My hatred for Venom makes another appearance here.
This was my very first “Blessing” pin up. Both characters have evolved a bit from this concept piece. Jim no longer smokes, and Denver is all hand gun all the time.
4th quarter battle sequence from a story that’s been rattling around in my head for almost 10 years. I remember a rather funny response on Penciljack regarding my painstaking approach to this series.
